Passion Moss-Hasan
Dr. Passion Moss-Hasan is a visionary educational leader and the proud Principal of the Dionne Warwick Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship. Since taking on the role, she has distinguished herself as a transformational leader—implementing internal systems of accountability, launching hybrid learning programs, and overseeing major building renovations. She is deeply honored to lead a school that bears the name of the iconic Ms. Dionne Warwick, whose presence and legacy continue to inspire the school community.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Moss-Hasan served as Principal of the Cicely L. Tyson Community Elementary School of Performing & Fine Arts from 2009 to 2020. As one of the original visionaries behind this groundbreaking project, she played a key role in designing a state-of-the-art school facility in tribute to the legendary Ms. Cicely L. Tyson. Before that, she led the Washington Academy School of Music, where she also served as Assistant Principal. Across these leadership roles, she has been recognized for her ability to build high-performing teams, foster creative learning environments, and drive equity-centered school improvement.
Dr. Moss-Hasan brings over 28 years of diverse experience to the field—as a performer, classroom teacher, literacy coordinator, assistant principal, motivational speaker, and consultant. She is also a mentor to aspiring leaders and is formally trained in music, drama therapy, and executive leadership coaching.
Through her company, PMH Consulting Services, she provides executive coaching, professional development, and leadership training to educators, school systems, and businesses. Her work emphasizes holistic wellness, culturally responsive practices, and inclusive leadership. She is also the author of Cultivating Potential from the Ground Up: A Roadmap to Educational Leadership, which offers insight and strategy for those navigating the leadership journey.
Dr. Moss-Hasan holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Kean University, a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Saint Peter’s University, and a Bachelor’s in Drama and Speech Communication from Delaware State University. She also has experience in drama therapy, is an ICF-trained executive coach, and completed the New Jersey Leaders to Leaders Certification Mentor Program.
She proudly holds active memberships in numerous professional and civic organizations, including the National Education Association (NEA), National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA), East Orange Administrators Association (EOAA), Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. (PDK), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NC100BW), WONAC, Yejide Lessons, and the NAACP (Perth Amboy Branch). She also serves on several advisory boards and community initiatives.
Among her many achievements, Dr. Moss-Hasan traveled to China in 2013 to study the national education system and share U.S. practices in arts and leadership. In 2017, she was invited by Bishop T.D. Jakes to speak at the First Legends Award honoring the late Ms. Cicely Tyson, and in 2021, she was named to the GMA Inspiration List: Who’s Making Black History. In 2022, under her leadership, her school was recognized as a Leader in Me Model School, acknowledging her success as a turnaround principal and champion of social-emotional learning.
